This whole series is full of great teen characters, realistic emotion, humor, and real meaning. I would highly recommend these books to any teen. This book specifically was very fast-paced and exciting, as well as being very easy to relate to for kids. Sammy Keyes is a tough eighth-grader who gets herself into trouble a lot. The books are told from her point of view. Reading them is really like listening to someone talk. I've never read a story with a more natural voice. I love these books!

I usually find this series to either be afantastic foray into sammya life or a fun mystery that I didn't figure out in advance. this recent one was both and that is why I think it was one of her better ones. I also enjoyed how she took something most are ceeped out by and showed how graveyards can also be a place or peace and joy and even celebration. she also showed so many different ways to deal with death and how all of them are a way of honoring those who have passed and not the horror's.

Yes, Sammy Keyes is for kiddies, but I've been reading her mysteries since I was the proper age for them, and I'm not about to give up on ol' Sammy now!This one was very good. Not quiiiite up there with my favorites, but better than some. Just like "Sammy Keyes and the Cold, Hard Cash" involved lots of musings about money and its role in Sammy's life and in people's behavior, this book involved Sammy mulling over the theme of death and how bodies are treated after they die. I hadn't read any books in the Sammy Keyes series before this one, but I'm glad I did, because this story was surprisingly gripping and intriguing for middle grad fiction.

Sammy Keyes and The Night of Skulls by Wendelin Van Draanen is a very good book. First, Sammy and her squad go trick-or-treating and get chased by a man with a shovel when they trespass the graveyard. Then, Heather Acosta has to make their night even weirder by attacking them! When they get to Hudson's house they find out Billy had gotten two SKULLS in the sack that the beast chasing them had dropped. Then, they're suddenly following people who murder or whatever nonsense! Every Sammy Keyes book is exciting and thought-provoking and this one is no exception. For once, it brings up more questions than it actually answers, which is ok too.Funny enough, I was just telling someone that this series is pretty tame with pretty much no dead bodies...and then I read this book and realized, uh oh, it has dead bodies. *SPOILER ALERT* - don't read further if you don't want to know...but, nobody actually gets killed between the pages of this book. It does, however, talk a lot
