Representaion Toward Books Little Brother & Little Sister

This story was AWESOME!! and I think would be great as a modern retelling.

Of course a step-mom is involved who hates the kids and the kids run away. But the twist is that the step-mom is a witch and bewitches the water supply which turns the brother into a fawn.

Sister takes care of the fawn and herself and soon a hunting party comes through their woods. Because the fawn is really a boy (and can still talk!!) he totes wants to join the hunting party (as a fawn) just to screw with everyone.

The King learns about the Sister and the talking fawn and when he goes to them he falls in love with the Sister and marries her. The new Queen requests that her fawn stays with them forever and the King agrees.

Soon, they have a son and the witch step-mom learns that the sister and fawn are still alive and now her daughter is jealous cuz hey... she married a king!

They go to the kingdom and kill the Sister and the other daughter takes the form of the Queen.

For a couple nights the ghost Queen comes around and feeds her baby ghost boob milk and checks on her fawn. The King finds out and BOOM... spell is broken when he touches her. The daughter gets ripped apart by beasts and the witch mom gets burned.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER!

OH! And the fawn becomes a dude again!

Judgment Epithetical Books Little Brother & Little Sister
Great... gentle, magical, and replete with a noble king and wicked witch :)

Well, the brothers Grimm certainly lived up to their name with this one! I loved reading Grimm fairy tales as a teen, and I'm not sure if I've read this one before or not. Regardless, I was pleased to find this version with the lovely illustrations by Bernadette Watts. The story is interesting enough, though the end is quite grim --probably not best for reading to the littles right before bed.

Not reading this edition. Reading from The Annotated Brothers Grimm published by Norton.

WrensReads Review:I have the complete set of the Grimm Fairy-Tales, and there are so many that I havent read! They are very short, as one would know, so I have decided to read each one and give them a review. Some are very vulgar, some are very cute and some dont even make sense. Some of them are well known fairy-tales and some have never been told. Some are fairy-tales we know but are not the same because they have been downplayed for the children. As many stories start, there is an evil step

Jacob Ludwig Karl Grimm, German philologist, jurist and mythologist, was born at Hanau, in Hesse-Kassel (or Hesse-Cassel). He is best known as the discoverer of Grimm's Law, the author of the monumental German Dictionary, his Deutsche Mythologie and more popularly, with his brother Wilhelm, as one of the Brothers Grimm, as the editor of Grimm's Fairy Tales.(From Wikipedia.)Meh... normal, supongo. Tal vez le tendría más aprecio a la historia si se me hubiese leído de pequeño, o hubiese crecido con el relato como compañero, pero al no ser así, doy mi opinión actual.

What a bunch of dimwits.
