Ilustration In Favor Of Books 2001 Nights: The Death Trilogy Overture (2001 Nights #1)

It is one of rare "pure science fiction manga" works. The themes and plots of this series resemblance Western science fiction in 1950-70. This series doesn't focus on plots such as action, romance, comedy, fighting spirits as majority of manga (even manga with SF/futuristic setting), but instead focus with ideas that popular in SF stories genre: Space Explorations, Generation Starships, Planetary Romance/Adventure, Genetic Engineering, etc. The heroes in this manga are not unyielding warriors/athletes, but visionary scientists/explorers.

Assessment Containing Books 2001 Nights: The Death Trilogy Overture (2001 Nights #1)
Yukinobu Hoshino (in Japanese, 星野之宣) is a Japanese manga artist. In 1975, after dropping out of Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music, he debuted with Kotetsu no Queen In the same year, he won the Tezuka prize for an outstanding manga with Harukanaru Asa (はるかなる朝).He is known for using the gekiga style to create detailed and serious science fiction stories based on American

As the name subtly suggests, this is a love letter to the Kubric-Clarke über masterpiece. Short space stories in austere, awe-inspiring drawings. Old school hard SciFi in space, with hints of mind- and universe-bending revelations. The stories feel kind of romantic but also forward looking at the same time. If you've any interest in Space exploration or just SciFi you owe it to yourself to read them.

I found this book to be both very original and very imitative at the same time. I liked it for both reasons and a "4.5" would probably be a better score than a "4.0".The artwork and the basic realization of his central "good vs. evil" theme are original and at times stunning. In such a small volume the large panels barely convey the scope of the artist's most expansive vistas. As he is both author and artist, there is tight association between each drawing and the characters and the plot. The

Graphic SF short stories---all classic types of plots involving space exploration, very well-conceived and appropriately melodramatic. I wish the art were a little better; it's in black and white and is easy enough to follow but seems overcrowded and looks poorly reproduced. Still, a real pleaser for fans of that Golden Age style storytelling, I think.

A remarkable collection of Sci-fi short stories which break the mold of normal manga and instead take on a gritty realism. Hoshino Yukinobu's take on space opera is intelligent and moving.
