Owly is just so adorable!   In Flying Lessons, Owly learns about acceptance and overcoming fears when he tries to make a new friend. Along with his friend, Wormy, Owly finds a strange new creature. When they try to find it in a book, they realize the creature is a flying squirrel and that its main predator is the owl. Owly is still determined to befriend the flying squirrel and Wormy tries to help. The artwork is in black & white which allows the focus to be mainly on the characters faces as

In this third adventure Owly, Wormy and Flutters are just as adorable and heartwarming as ever. I love picking these graphic novels up when I'm having a bad day because they just cheer me up! The group try to befriend a flying squirrel. Owly and him don't hit it off at first because flying squirrels are afraid of owls. Clearly he's never meet an owl like Owly before! These just make me smile. Enjoy them so much. A must for all graphic novel lovers and anyone who wants a smile put on their faces!

Little Owly wants to learn to fly. That's the most sure thing about this graphic novel, and even that is only made entirely clear thanks to the title. Lacking text of any kind, Owly and his friends, a caterpillar and a squirrel, speak entirely in pictograms. While this gives the book a sense of whimsy and offers the reader a chance to interpret the story in his own way, it can at times be frustrating and lead to confusion about what exactly is happening on the page.

One day Owly and his worm friend are in the forest planting a flower. It turns night and they hear a rustle. They see that it is a flying squirrel and Owly wants to befriend it. But The flying squirrel is afraid and leaves quickly. Owly decides to try to warm up to the little guy.I think this is a really cute graphic novel series. I'm not a kid and I really enjoy this series. I know it's wordless, but even with pictures it tells a great and heartwarming story.

My first thought was to say the Owly tales illustrate the power of optimism, but thats true only so much as Owlys attitude motivates his actions. Really, this is a series of stories about unrelenting giving, compassion, and friendship. Very simple, wordless stories with adorable art (I say adorable as someone who doesnt do saccharine or cloying). Following the sequence and understanding all the messages implied by the symbols that stand in for words when dialogue occurs can still be a
