Why do I love Frog and Toad? I'm not really sure. Not much really happens in these stories. The illustrations are beautiful but rather small. The eponymous friends carry on their friendship through mild misunderstandings and misadventures, always ready to forgive each other and forget. These gentle stories are among my favorite kids' books. I have fond memories of Frog and Toad from my childhood, and I never tire of re-reading them to my 4-year-old daughter. She seems to like them, too.

Frog and Toad are the main characters in a series of easy-reader children's books, written and illustrated by Arnold Lobel. Each book contains five simple, often humorous, sometimes poignant, short stories chronicling the exploits of a frog and his friend, a toad. Some of their adventures include: attempting to fly a kite, cleaning Toad's messy house as opposed to waiting until "Tomorrow" to do so, and figuring out the ethics of being "Alone". Collection of three stories about the best friends, Frog and Toad who are completely ridiculous and simple creatures. My favorite story in the collection discusses bravery. Both friends are heck bent on trying to prove their courage, but at every turn run away scared! Instead of admitting their fear, they both agree that they were terribly brave to face them in the first place! The child that actually read this to me is an EL student in middle school, and she laughed the hardest at this story.
This was my favorite book when I was little! My teacher gave it to me in kindergarten because I already knew how to read and was bored with the tiny books for my age. She gave me this book and another one about spiders and told me to finish them over the weekend. I read the spider one as fast as I could because I was terrified of the pictures.
